Richard Sexton is a renowned fine art and media photographer whose work has been published and exhibited internationally. His photographs have appeared in publications like Abitare, Black + White Magazine, and 64 Parishes. Sexton’s books include Enigmatic Stream: Industrial Landscapes of the Lower Mississippi River (2019), Creole World: Photographs of New Orleans and the Latin Caribbean Sphere (2014), Terra Incognita: Photographs of America’s Third Coast (2007), and the bestselling New Orleans: Elegance and Decadence (1993). With over 300,000 books in print, his work resonates widely.

Sexton has curated exhibitions, including Sidney Bechet: A World of Jazz 1897-1997, and held major solo shows at institutions such as the Hilliard Art Museum, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and Frost Art Museum. His photographs are held in the permanent collections of The Historic New Orleans Collection, New Orleans Museum of Art, LSU Museum of Art, and more. In 2014, he received the Michael P. Smith Award for Documentary Photography from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and was recognized in American Photography magazine's Latin America Fotografia 3 awards.
