Jamie Blackburn is a Columbia, SC native and professional visual artist with over 20 years of experience. Encouraged by family and teachers, his artistic journey began early, earning awards as a child and later obtaining a BA in Art from Lander University. Based in West Columbia, Jamie creates from his home studio, primarily working in oil painting while exploring sculpture, graphic design, and photography.

A South Carolina Arts Commission Approved Artist, Jamie teaches workshops in public schools and draws inspiration from diverse sources. “Nature is inspiring and elevates my soul,” he shares, crediting outdoor adventures, cultural symbolism, and the aesthetics of everyday life as key influences. His work blends primitive design techniques with modern technologies, often incorporating textures, carved lines, and layers of color in what he calls “colliding ideas.”

Jamie’s art spans landscapes, portraits, and abstraction, with a passion for exploratory formalism. He believes that experimenting with techniques and embracing mishaps has been his greatest teacher, allowing him to craft meaningful, dynamic pieces that resonate with a wide audience.
