Located in one of Charleston’s iconic art-deco buildings on upper King Street, Michael Mitchell serves as a luxury multi-line showroom and art gallery, housing over 30 nationally recognized artists and a diverse collection of eclectic home furnishings and curiosities. The 12,000 square foot showroom serves as a hub for the design community and dedicated home enthusiasts.
Spanning two levels, the design center embodies the essence of “twisted traditional,” a distinctive style that has become the brand’s signature. The first floor carries the latest in furnishings, paint, flooring, hardware, surfaces, and original artworks, complemented by a full-service rug gallery. Household names like Farrow & Ball, Baker, McGuire, Hickory Chair, Swaim, Made Goods, Arteriors, CR Laine, Highland House, and Julian Chichester, among others, are found at Michael Mitchell.
MEET MICHAEL
Michael Mitchell, the creative force behind our interior design firm, spent significant time honing his skills in the heart of New York City before heeding the call of his Southern roots. Returning home to Charleston, he planted the seeds of his vision, cultivating a design philosophy that blends the classic with the avant-garde. Michael's signature style, known as "twisted traditional," redefines conventional aesthetics, has been recognized in publications like Traditional Home, Southern Home, Architectural Digest, Robb Report, and Wall Street Journal. Beyond his design expertise and unique artwork curation, Michael is deeply involved in the Lowcountry’s philanthropic community and enjoys working with various non-profit organizations.
